The situation

Established, well liked, and renting its customers

An independent takeaway in Greater Manchester, established and well liked locally, did its online business through third-party delivery apps and the phone. It had no ordering channel of its own: no site that took orders, no direct way for a regular to order again, and a thin presence in local search.

What we built

  • A branded website with the full menu, photo-led and priced, built mobile-first because that's how its customers order.
  • Its own online ordering with card payments, for both delivery and collection, feeding orders straight to the shop.
  • The local search foundations so people searching in the area can find the shop directly.

The result

408 paid orders, from a standing start

408 paid orders worth £9,544 through its own checkout in the first 90 days. Once established, the shop was taking 121 and 132 orders a month, at about £2.9k each.

Around 8 in 10 orders were delivery, so customers were happy to order direct. The average order was about £23.

In local search, in the latest 28-day window the site appeared 8,972 times across 515 different searches, at an average position of 7.8 (page one of Google), with 279 clicks.

What it shows

A local business that only exists on someone else's platform can get its own direct ordering channel quickly, and start owning the customer relationship, with search working in the background.

Order figures from the shop's own order records for its first 90 days (to 17 October 2026). Search figures from Google Search Console, 14 September to 11 October 2026. Client kept anonymous.

Questions

Common questions about this case study

Can you do this for my business?

If you take orders, bookings or enquiries and currently rely on someone else's platform or the phone, very likely. Tell us what you do and we'll say honestly whether a site like this would pay for itself.

Was it the website or the search that brought the orders?

We can't split the two. The order figures come from the shop's own checkout, and the search figures show how often the site appeared in Google. We don't claim the search alone produced the orders.

Why is the client anonymous?

We keep some client details private. The figures are real and come from the shop's own order records and Google Search Console.
